Community Building Through Conscious Conversations

One of the things I have learned from being with hundreds of people one-on-one in therapy and A Course in Miracles classes is what all humans truly want in their heart of hearts. It’s not money, fame, or power. It's to be seen, heard, and appreciated by another human being.

Why? It's because every human being has a child inside that yearns for the love they were created in and by. Every human being unconsciously yearns for the loving relationship they were created in and by, and have never left, whether or not they know it. We may believe we are seeking a loving human relationship, but it is actually the loving relationship with our loving Spirit-parent, God.

Any human who has come here and into a body still yearns for this holy relationship, this eternal love, that they seem to have lost or been abandoned by. For in this body, and in this world, it truly seems like this love is often absent. All suffering is but a manifestation of a heartbroken soul, who cannot forget the love they once had and thought they lost forever.

Everything we humans do in this world is to try to experience this loving connection again. We Humans may put by our longing pains in tricks and games we play to distract from our core wound, the separation from the love our soul can't forget. All the glitter of the world we use to substitute for this loving relationship will never satisfy our soul's one desire, to be reunited with the long-lost desire of our heart.

As the A Course in Miracles tells us, none of the tricks and games we offer our minds in consolation can satisfy them."

The essence of this love from God, which we all believe we’ve lost, is:

“I see you, I hear you, and you matter”.

Here now, the A Course in Miracles tells us, is the purpose of the holy encounter AND the holy relationship: communicate to others how and what God communicates to us; "I see you, I hear you, and you matter."

We communicate this to others so that they may feel what God's love feels like. This, of course, is also how we come to feel that loving relationship, alive and thriving within ourselves.

The holy encounters & the holy relationships, in which we communicate to others, "I see you, I hear you, and you matter", now become the sweet reminders of the loving relationship with God we've yearned for, in which we ecstatically experience God saying to us, "I see you. I hear you, and you matter to me." This is how and when we experience the sense of completion within ourselves, and are set free from self-doubt.

Because most humans have been made afraid of God, their only way to experience God’s love is through another human being who communicates to them, “ I see you, I hear you, and you matter”.

This is now the only true purpose of every relationship, be it a momentary encounter or an extended relationship.

In the Course, we hear God asking of us, “be their friend for me”.

This communication technique that you're going to learn today

teaches you how to give and receive an experience of God’s love…..

 that you might be God's friend for them.

Personally, I experience this dialogue technique as forgiveness in action, as it enables you to listen to others with an intention to understand their deeper motivations, which is at core, is always their cry for the love they believe has abandoned them. This way of being in dialogue with people releases BOTH people from judgments we've held against others, and so ourselves.

Which is also what forgiveness does,

AS you listen with only the intent to understand someone's deeper motivations, and look for their soul behind their fears, you offer them the kind of love they've yearned for their whole life. Seeing their call for God's love behind their ego errors, IS FORGIVENESS. And this forgiveness enables BOTH to begin to remember our first love, our primary relationship with our adoring Spirit-Parent, God, which then releases the light from within ALL of our relationships.
